Well, I got my 66 Valiant back on the street yesterday after some trials getting it going after 24 years. This thing is a beast. It's got a highway gear ratio but still launches with authority. It seems to shift well but I can't really go through the gears hard because the old tires sat too long flat and are horribly out of round, so that the whole car shakes and shimmies at anything over 45 MPH. So my next job is to check out the steering bushings more thoroughly and shop for new tires....
