need opinions
Byi pulled off my intake and valve covers today on my 318. i wanted to get opinions on condition and what to do. i wanted to put in a cam since the intake is already off, and wanted to know if this would be possible with this motor. can a new cam be properly put in with the motor in? not looking to do a rebuild, and this motor is supposedly low mileage( about 50 or 60k). heres some pics.
by the way, i bought the engine off craigslist in san diego.i put the motor in and drove home to detroit, mi and it ran perfect the whole time. slight puff of smoke out the exhaust when starting the car but otherwise was good. i only pulled the intake becasue the 2bbl was leaking bad and i didnt want a fire.
this is my first time doing this, so help is appreciated. thanks jason
on the passenger side all looked good imo.
on the drivers side, the center port (what is this for?) was completely clogged with carbon? and was 1/2-1 inch thick and hard.
cam has burs on certain lobes
drivers head
pass. head
i ended up cleaning out the carbon as you can see in this last pic
