Need advise on Steering gear box removal

What is the easiest method to remove and replace a power steering gear box. It was just replaced about three months ago and the rebuilt one is crapping out. It has about 1/4-1/2 inch of runout in the worm gear and about an 1/8 turn of play in the steering wheel. When it was done the shop dropped the k-frame to do it and they did a bunch of stuff, proped up the engine, loosen the torsion bars, etc., that I didn't think was necessary but to be honest I haven't got a clue how this is suppose to be done. I don't want to approach this for the second time and not have a clue as to how it should be done. Could you guys clue me on the easier way?

Thanks to all of you.
