We have a few "tool dealers" that sell on craigslist...actually they just clog up things with their constant posting.
"I bought a MAC tool box last week off of a pretty regular poster here on Craig’s List. He’s got a store and everything! The Box was not paid for by its original owner! It was still property of MAC tools because the guy who bought it only made a few payments on it and sold it to the guy who sold it to me. I found out when I tried to get a new key from MAC tools. The seller says he won’t even answer my calls or emails. I called the courthouse and they say he has over 10 cases pending against him in small claims court. I called the police and made a report and was told he has a criminal charge for receiving stolen goods. This guy pressures you to pay in cash by offering a better price because he is buying equipment like air tools, compressors and tool boxes that people are defaulting on and just selling it fraudulently. Its happening all over the country and these guys are using Craigs list to rip people off.
If you’re buying a piece of equipment at a ridiculously low price, get the serial number and call the company to check and see if it’s paid off. If its not, it doesn’t belong to you and they will make you pay for it or come after you to get it back. If you try to get it serviced or buy parts, you may be in for a real surprise like I was."
