demo derby!!
Bywell i’m gonna be running a 71?? or so chrysler imperial in a derby car, has a 440 in it, and im looking at what i can do to the engine, i’ve never done anything to a derby engine except change the timing chain, and put on some zoomies… i’m thinking, put on my eddy rpm intake, gonna run headers, probably a 750 holley, anybody know how good the dp 750s are as far as not flooding out on impact, i know the eddybrocks are excellent for not flooding but all i have in a eddy is a 600.. gonna put in my 4:56 gears.. now down to the point i’m wanting to keep this engine fairly cool, while i’ve still got the radiator, and keep it not boiling hot, exhaust pipes glowing red, once i lose the radiator, could methanol fuel help keep me cool?? or would the stock motor have enough compression to run alky?? also thinking about picking up a cheap 50 dollar cam to throw in it, kinda intimidate the competition with, and give better power, but is there a cheap cam with a duration that won’t make the engine run hot?? or better yet, how to make the engine still run good while hot?? most big blocks i’ve ran in a derby start missing and lose power when they get hot, i know timing, and high octane fuel will help but that will also hurt me when the engine is cool, to where i’ve gotta run the car for 10mintues for the engine to get warmed up before i can run… or how about i don’t run a radiator, i’ve done it on smallblocks, run the radiator hoses together, and run a couple heater cores inside the car with a fan on em… think that will keep the big block cool??
