Ok, I think I am looking at the deck height. From the block to the top of the piston. I thought that a 440 normally had about a .050 deck height. I just checked mine and it is .204 That is with no head gasket. Doesn't that sound a little far down in the hole? I checked 3 holes and all are the same. I may be off a few thou but that is what I came up with
