challenger drip rail

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Hey guys, just signed up and became a member, seems pretty cool !!! And of course on my first post I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I am restoring a 70 Challenger, I have installed 2 new quarter panels, the problem is there is no clearance on the passenger side between the quarter panel and the rear lower section of the drip rail trim. The driver's side is fine. Had a buddy look at it today who restores car for a living and he had no answers. I do have another 70 Challenger drag car that had quarters put on it about 10 years ago and it seems to have the same issue but not as bad. Do you guys know if this is a common problem with Challengers on the passenger side? Just trying to keep the contour of the quarter panel correct where it meets the roof. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Heat Soak Remedy…

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Okay, per your recommendations, I purchased this part. To refresh your memories... I go to to start the car in the morning and it fires right up. So sweet! Pump the gas 3 times, turn the key and VROOOM!!! Okay, after it's thoroughly warmed up (20 mins at highway speeds) it fights me when it's time to start up. A good five seconds of cranking, a little backfire, and then a weak start. Several people recommended this part to cure "heat soak". How do I install it? The in and out parts are easy and need no explanation. What about the other hook-up? Obviously I run a line from the filter back to the tank, but then what? Drill a hole? Tap into the return line with a 3-way? What to do? No directions with the part, of course.

Thanks.

`65 Arm Rests

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
What size arm rests were used on the `65 Coronet 500 hardtop? I've got a boxfull of arm rest bases of varying sizes and trying to determine which ones to re-chrome. There are three sizes:
(a) 10" lg w/ ash tray cutout, [P/N 2490016/7]
(b) 11-1/2" lg w/ ash tray cutout [1211 VZ1 LH/RH]
(c) 15" lg w/o ash tray cutout. [2490038/9]

I could make no sense of the parts number using my `65 parts book. Going back to an original `65 Dodge dealers option book shows the following (copied exactly as listed):
Armrests, front: Long bright (2-dr. HT & Convertible) - Std
Armrests, rear: Medium bright (2-dr. HT & Convertible) - Std
Ash trays, front & rear : (front only Coronet) - Std

None of my old Dodge sales literature show a clear picture of the arrm rests for the Coronet 500 HT. Lots of pics of the convertible, which shows the very arm rests in the front - can't tell about the ash tray. And the convertible had a different rear arm rest.

If anyone out there has a `65 Coronet 500 HT and could check what the arm rests are, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Steve

Carb Install

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Took my carb off to clean it. When I reinstall it should I install the gaskets dry or use a sealer? Also I have a 1" spacer under the carb, Holley 770 Street Avenger with an Edelbrock performer 383 manifold. THe spacer makes for easier install but wonder if it helps or hurts performance? THoughts?
