Greetings one and all. I am looking for some info on suspension upgrades for a 1969 Plymouth Fury. As these lead sleds are not as popular as the A and B body muscle cars, I seem to have some trouble finding upgrades. I want to upgrade to disk brakes and make suspensions upgrades to make it hadle and drive better. If you have any suggestions, advice or know of any websites that offer after market upgardes for this type of vehicle, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Bought a rust-free '69 Fury III in Nov. 2011 & shipped her here to Boston from Louisiana. 318 auto, factory a/c & really cool original copper/gold paint, all original everything. Going to do a fresh repaint in April & cruise in classic huge Fury style.

Alright I'm new here and I've got a 1970 Fury III with a 383 2 bbl. I bought it 3 years ago when I was fifteen. It's been driven daily for almost a year now and this winter I noticed a slight issue. Here in Pennsylvania winter gets a little chilly, so it's nice to have a heater...mine doesn't work. I've replaced the thermo, and the heater control valve. The old valve broke over the summer and I simply bipassed it with a couple of copper tubes. Then when the thermo went I decided to buy a new control valve, and ever since then my heat hasnt been working. I know the heater core is fine because it would blow hot air when I didn't have the valve on it. It seems like the coolant isn't getting past the HCV because the rubber tubing going into my heater isn't warm like the tubing going into the valve. Should I just take off the control valve and use the trusty copper pipes again, or is there something I'm not seeing? Any advice is appreciated!!

Guys -

OK, the Charger seems to have a new gremlin. The engine is pretty smooth in neutral and drive and through its rpm range. When I turn on the lights, it gets noticeably choppy, like there's a random miss.

What would you suspect (change first)?

1. Voltage regulator
2. Alternator
3. Wiring (ground short, etc ... somewhere)

Anybody see something like this before?

Thanks,

I saw this used 4 speed listed on Craigslist, http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/pts/2822262466.html

I wondered why there was no mention of it being able to be used in another A-body? The seller mentions all sorts of B and E bodies. The 69 barracudas are A-bodies, correct? Are the trannys that interchangeable? A body to B body? Just swap out the bell housings? and either lengthen or shorten the drive shaft? Not that this really matters to me, but was just wondering if I was missing something, I still consider myself learning this kind of thing. So any useful (or useless) information is welcome, teach me what you know.

Thanks,

The stock column was tilt, with cruise control. I purchased a used non tilt column on ebay. The column I purchased did not have cruise control. The cruise control never worked so I figured it wouldnt be a problem.

Here is where I am stumped. The new column i purchased has a different "ignition" type system. The stock column used the bar pulling on the switch system, whereas the new column has a system that appears to be internal in the column. As seen in the pictures. The new column appeared to have a different wiring harness, and was not "plug and play". A buddy and myself cut the wiring on the new harness, switched wires, and made it work. The truck would turn on, and start.

Fast forward to a day later. I get the new column completely bolted in. Plug in the harness, and truck will not start. All accessories turned on, but it "clicked" when trying to start it. I plugged the old column harness in to attempt to start the vehicle. When i turned the ignition to "start", the harness immediately fried a wire. It completely fried off the insulation. This was confusing as nothing was touched on the vehicle itself. We did not cut into the vehicle wiring harness. Heres some pictures. The truck is actually my moms, and I would like to get it going asap for her. Thanks everyone.

I bought some heads thinking I was gonna use them to save some money on a rebuild I'm doing. Turns out it wasnt what I'm looking for. The heads come off a 1964 426 max wedge, cast # 2406518. They were rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago. Head is clean with valves and springs still intact. the only thing missing is the rocker arms.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a '64 Dodge Polara 500 I am thinking about trading up to a '-70-'71 Cuda or Challenger. I have never had an E-body and always had 383s, but am interested in getting a 440 6pack or Hemi. I know about the price differences, but I am interested in hearing about how the two compare on roadability, drivability, reliability, etc. I like to drive my cars a lot, and have really enjoyed the bullet-proof aspects of my '64 383. How do the Hemi and 440 6pack engines compare? Thanks for any opinions and insights, thanks.

I am the second owner and it is all original (except new Anniversary Gold paint and headliner and weatherstrip/window seals), 68K miles and run like a new car. I also have the original Calif. black plates, and all documents from delivery to today about the car, including window sticker, owners and warranty manuals, etc., a real time capsule. But I am looking at trading up to a '70-'71 E-body, so I wanted to join to get some knowledge about them. Thanks.

Chris Greenhouse and co-driver Phil Marsh took on the best two-wheel-drive rally teams in the US at Sno*Drift Rally, but came up short of a National podium finish after a mechanical problem on day 2 of the rally.

Sno*Drift is the season opener of the RallyAmerica National Championship series, and is held in Montmorency County, Michigan, USA, and it featured no fewer than 67 entries from all parts of the world. Studded tires are prohibited at Sno*Drift Rally, and the difficult conditions tested the drivers as the stages had a mixture of snow, sand, gravel and lots of glare ice. “Our recce notes were crucial this year,” said Chris. “It was very important to note the areas that had thawed and turned to gravel. It was equally important to note the icy areas and slow down appropriately.” Chris and Phil stayed mostly clean on Day 1, recording only one puncture near the end of Stage 5. Their fast but cautious approach kept them in a 4-way battle for second place at the end of Day 1, and they handily took their first Group 2 Regional class win of the year.

Overnight snow covered some of the exposed gravel on Day 2, but the team suffered a setback on the first leg of Day 2, after a minor run-in with a snow bank broke a CV shaft. “It was entirely my fault,” said Chris. “I bumped a snow bank that had some gravel and dirt in it, and even though we were going slow, we broke the left CV joint in two. That was on Stage 15, and it meant that we had to run Stages 16 and 17 with only one-wheel-drive. It took us 4 minutes to climb the first hill on SS16. In fact, we needed help from some marshals and fans to push the car up the icy slope. One little mistake from me was all it took to end our bout for a National podium finish.” After the crew quickly repaired the damage at service, Chris and Phil then went out to battle back for some Regional points. They pressed hard and once again displayed their perseverance as they came from behind to take yet another Regional Group 2 win, although they could only muster a fifth place finish in 2WD National. The Weasel RallySport team finished the event with a double Group 2 Regional win and Chris is now the Central Region Group 2 points leader.

The team will be back in action at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood in Salem, Missouri, USA in February. Chris and the Weasel RallySport Team would like to thank EBC Brakes, MadDog STS, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Angry Sheep Motorsports, Silco Fire Protection, Modern Performance and JayRacing.com for their continued support.

While looking through my local craigslist ads I ran across a viper rear end for a few hundred bucks. It got me to thinking...I need a new rear end, how possible would it be to fab it up to fit my 74 B body? Anyone ever heard of something like that or am I thinking off the deep end, lol? I think it would look super cool and obviously would be capable of handling high hp.:yikes:
