Posted by: | CommentsMy brother and I just attended a local race last weekend after not seeing one in a long time and we ended up talking to a racer in the pits about his car. After playing around with occasional drag racing, this looks like a lot more fun. Anyhow, we looked into the rules, and it doesn't seem that complicated, as we can fabricate and build, however we're wondering what a good chassis would be to start. We're as far North as Wissota runs, so that's the rules we'll have to meet. I know that buying someone else's used car is probably the cheapest way into this, however all that's being run locally ar GM metric chassis, and all the extra parts we have are 318 and 360 mopar and related.
Basically, we're limited to a wheelbase of 110 or longer if we run a uni-body, so that rules out a '70 Duster that I was parting out anyway... What's the "better" choice in chassis? A-body Dart with 111" wheelbase, F-M-J body with 112" wheelbase, or late B-body with 115" wheelbase? I have fairly solid '78 Magnum shell, or have a 1966 Dart at 111" wheelbase. We have plenty of early A-body parts, so this one is what I'm leaning towards.
Any tips or pointers? This might turn into a winter project for next summer.

new clutch master/slave cylinder issues!!
Posted by: | Commentshey there, i'm looking for some tips or advise from someone who knows hydraulic clutches.
i have a 1960 fargo 1/2 ton pickup. v8 313 in it. everything under the hood is original or close to it. i was having some clutch issues and narrowed it down to the master cylinder.( with some help of coarse). after alot of searching i found the same one. installed it.
bled and bled and bled. not working. after further inspection i found that the slave cylinder was also bad. the truck had been sitting for close to 4 years.
now i have a new master and slave cylinder. installed properly and bled numerous times. but... still cannot engage any gears. i'm getting about 3/8 travel on the armature coming from the slave cylinder. same parts not as much travel?
is this a matter of extending that armature or possibly the one from pedal to master?
any ideas or facts would be greatly appreciated
keep in mind i am not at all a mechanic. but would like to know my way around my old trucks!
thanks
