Hey all you FBBO NHRA drag racers and fans. C'mon and play the NHRA "Pick 'Em" game for all NHRA national events. I started this game over on FABO last year and we had a great time with it - so this year I'm expanding it to include FBBO, FCBO, FEBO, and FMJ players as well.
Who knows more and can pick better? Fans of A-bodies, B-bodies, C-bodies, E-bodies, or FMJ bodies? Mopar has such a rich history and legacy in drag racing.
Click on the following thread, check out the rules and then post your picks either on this thread or over on the FABO thread. Your picks must be posted no later than start of pro qualifying on Friday, Feb. 10th in order to be eligible for all event qualifying bonus points.

Let's make the 2012 game bigger and better than last year by including all Mopar-body fans.
Good luck all!

Me and my dad have been tearing into my 1970 440 and have gotten a lot of the work done. The entire top end is off but the cam, crank, pistons and timing belt and cover remain. It has been coming along nicely. When I bought it it was apparent that there was some slight rust in the cylinders so I am taking it to a local shop where there are boring it .030 over. I already have the new pistons but I intend to get mostly new race parts for the engine. I plan to put in a single plane high rise dart intake. The stock 906 heads but cleaned up and ported. An 850 holley double pumper. A lunati voodoo cam with .496 lift and 284 degrees of advertised duration. I also plan to put it into a 1970-71 challenger or cuda when I get it done, but dad says this must be done first as I am only 15. Also if you have a challenger or cuda for sell that meets the year criteria and is about 8000 bucks then send me a pm. :3gears: I had an error uploading the pics I will try again later :sign12:

I recently rebuilt my TQ. This, by the way, was my first carb build. I got it all together, put it back on the car, pour a little gas in, and start it up. It actually idled really well. After letting it idle for a minute or two I tried reving it. RPM went up, but did not go back down. (Now, I occasionally had this issue before the rebuild, but in a much milder form. After a long steady highway ride, I'd come to a light and the idle would be high so I put it in neutral, give it a quick rev and the idle would drop back to normal.) Now if I rev to, say 3000, it would stay there. I can return the idle to normal by pulling the pedal back to its origin. So where did I go wrong, I did not mess with the pedal or its direct linkage.

Another issue is that, upon turning the engine off and sticking my head back under the hood to inspect the throttle linkage, I noticed white smoke coming from the carburetor. What could this be? The engine was only running for 4 minutes at the most. I can't imagine this would be enough time to boil gasoline. Could it be a coating on the new gaskets burning off?

Please help! It is supposed to be near 70 degrees this week and I want to drive!!!

Thanks,
Robert

OK so I've been doing my engine over this winter. I removed the beat up old crusty headers that were on the car and went back to a set of factory HP manifolds. I see that Year One sells 2-1/2" head pipes for the 440 6 pack Challengers and I was wondering if anyone has used these?

I'm thinking that it will be easier to buy these, bolt them up along with a set of mufflers and then take the car to an exhaust shop to have a set of tailpipes made up. Otherwise I have to rent a trailer to get the car to a muffler shop as right now it has no exhaust from the manifolds back.

I'm just wondering if there are any fitment problems or if anyone has any feedback?

Anyone need a Challenger body? I was going to cut this car up for panel panels, but I thought it just to nice to nice to do that to it. This is a California body that is ready to have body work done. Very SOLID frame rails with only the typical areas that will need some work. Floors have some pinholes along with a area under the back seat that will need a patch panel as the car had a rear window leak that rust an area out. The trunk was also in need of some small rust repair, but the previous owner got excited and cut the truck are out. Good thing he cut inside the wheel wells which are fantastic!

This would make a great restoration body, resto mod or custom car for someone. I'm not asking a lot, but I would be interested in hearing what people think it's worth. The quarters alone are should be worth what I'm asking. Sometime I travel up and down I-5 from Portland to Los Angles so if you are near that freeway I can help with getting the car to you for a small fee (cover my gas).

Hello, i am assembling my 340. There are two small core plugs at the front that go into the ends of the lifter oil gallery, they sit behind the cam thrust plate. The engine had previously been rebuilt, but i noticed that the previous mechanic had not put them in. I asked another mechanic, he said they are not necessary, he uses silicone on the camshaft thrust plate and lets that seal the galleries.

He said that putting plugs in can block the oil supply to No.1 main bearing, if one of them sits too far in.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I had already installed the plugs when he told me this so now i am worried i might have blocked off the oil hole to #1 Main.

Thanks
