I'm looking for a donor vehicle to supply a drivetrain for my '56 Plymouth and I'm thinking of an '80-something 318 Fifth Avenue or Diplomat for a transmission and engine, and possibly the rear end.

I can't seem to find any specs for the rear end, but I'm assuming they used an 8-1/4" for the V8 models, correct? If so, can anyone tell me the flange to flange and perch dimensions? Also, what size rear drums did they come with?

My son had loads of fun with his stock (except for getting rid of the Lean Burn) 86 Gran Fury at our local 1/8 strip last night and got some great ETS. In his 3rd time trial he did 10.96 seconds at 64 mph, a personal best. He also got a "win" on that run as the track was trying to pair up cars with similar time potential to make the time trials interesting. He beat a mid-70s Ford that ran 11.25 on that pass. He "beat" the same car again in another time trial, this time with a 11.07 ET. In the elimination round, again against the same car, my kid ran 11.08, but broke out (my fault, as I had him dial in 11.16 because the weather had gotten more humid and his car hadn't had time to cool down from the previous time trial).

I was 1/2 a mile away from the Mopar Nats yesterday and my Kit Car was struck by a semi. I was going around a truck that was disabled (his hazards were onand he had been sitting there for at least 5 minutes)) when all of a sudden he started up and sideswiped me. Damage looks bad, but it's probably repairable. Thank God I have most of the parts (fender, fender flare, louvers) that will be needed. The one thing that I don't have is a replacement wheel--any one have one? or know where I might find one?

I have some pix I took with my cell phone. If I can figure out hows to upload them to my computer, I'll post a few.

And lo and behold, here's what I saw, and it's on Ebay.

Question is F-guys, is this for real?

If any of you F body guys are interested, I'm like an hour from it. I can go check it out for you

I am working on our 1977 Lebaron.

318
Lean burn gone
Edelbrock intake
Holley 600 carb
Orange box ignition

I have bypassed the key start, and installed a toggle ignition and push button start, all wired correctly to my knowledge. Switch 12 volt from orange box to ignition toggle, (through ballast resister) from 12 volt out of toggle to in on starter button and out to small post on starter. Car starts, runs and idles. Starter does not continue to engage after button is pushed. So as far as I can tell I am wired correctly.

With ignition off there is a small magnetic field on alternator pulley, with ignition on field is strong enough to hold a 6in 3/8 extension. I have tried unplugging the orange box from power, and disconnecting the plug at the distributor with no change.

I do not have a direct drain on the battery, battery will keep a charge. Starter is new.

If anyone has an idea I would love to hear it! I and everyone I know at the parts stores are at a loss. I am taking the alternator in this morning to have it checked, but I am out of ideas! :(

Thanks, Mike

So the question is, can I get the pan out while the engine is still in the car. Can I get it jacked up high enough or do I need to pull the engine.
Going to go to a stock milodon pan.
My garage is packed beyond capacity and I need SPACE to continue on the Volare.

and 2) the other day I had to take my Mom to the Dr and took a different way; saw a 77 RR for sale; 318 factory NON A/C, buckets, 8-1/4, console, same robin egg blue as my 76 (but white int instead of darker blue like my car) but ROUGH. new gas tank pally rims, and it IS a real RR. Not my car but I do have the # somewhere (I had the wife write it down) price; "MAKE OFFER".

LeBaron - MoparWiki

In the July 15, 2010 edition of Old Cars Weekly, there is a two page article on the M-Body Chrysler LeBaron.

It took me 5-minutes to scan the two pages, upload it to the MoparWiki article LeBaron - MoparWiki on the Chrysler LeBaron, and to give a citation to the article in Magazine references.

Please take a moment to check it out, especially if you're a Fan of the 78-79 LeBaron, and consider doing the same when you read an article on a Mopar vehicle. It only takes a few minutes, and it every member would take five minutes a month -- the MoparWiki would become the best Mopar Informationbase ever.

Please consider using just a few moments of your time.

I have my Volare coming together nicely.
It is an original A/C car, but everything from the firewall forward is missing, including the A/C mounting bracketry.
To complicate matters, I've got the Edelbrock heads, and the Edelbrock EFI system installed, and as a result, I'm not sure the origininal compressor could even mount.

I'm sure I can piece together the items I need, but the question I have is the compressor.
I contacted Bouchillon Performance, and they are fairly certain that one of their mounting brackets will work.
BPE4730 A/C Mounting Bracket Kit, Air Condition Bracket For Small Block Mopar Dodge Plymouth Chrysler, AC For New Mopar Performance Small Block Magnum Crate Engine
or
BPE4732 & BPE4733 AC Compressor Mounting Bracket, Air Condition For Small Block Mopar Dodge Plymouth Chrysler and Magnum Crate Engines, 6Pak AC, 6-Pak A/C, 6 Pak Air Condition
Their bracket uses a modern Sanden compressor.
BPE A/C Compressors
They sell a new compressor, but I was wondering what vehicles used this compressor that I could pull from a wrecking yard.
If anybody has ANY 76 F-body A/C parts they want to get rid of, let me know!
Thanks!

He'll be the main body/paint man and I'll get him a lot of air tools and sandpaper. Of course I'll do my part by helping to get his 88 Gran Fury cop car roadworthy too. Here are a couple pics of what we started with and where we stand today:
Well everything that was covered looks great, but the leading edges of said trim is cooked. Car has dual spotlights in the factory locations (look for the indents in the A-pillar when you open the doors if you've never seen 'em), so holes in those locations won't turn me away.

Hey All,

Getting my brother's 88 Gran Fury ready for the Power Tour again and we're looking for a couple things. Do they still make the heavy duty blue radiator hoses? The water pump bypass blew and we were curious if they're still available. Also, being a former Arkansas State patrol car, the heater/AC controls are shot - specifically the vacuum pod behind the unit is all dry-rotted. We can't find anthing around here (dealer NLA) and wondered if there's a source you know of for either new or a good used unit.

Thanks,

Hey all,

My Cordoba Convertible is screaming for a white interior. Does anyone have a nice white interior, seats and door panels available. Leather or vinyl is fine. Let me know...

And here's some info...it will have a little brother. I just picked up a Crossfire Roadster!

About 2 weeks ago I was testing a cb radio slip seat box in my 1989 diplomat:confused:. I plugged it into my cigar lighter recepticle and I had smoke rollin out of cb radio box and quickly unplugged it from the recepticle (fixed that problem) but now I have no dome -trunk lights and no power at the am/fm cd radio in the car. I checked all the fuses and cicuit breakers in the fuse block and all were o.k. I'm guessing fusible link but the ones I could find LOOKED o.k. but I'm puzzled.....anyone got any ideas?

Anybody check out this months Mopar Action???? Firm Feel Inc. now has FRONT(oval) poly bushings for these cars! About time someone stepped up to the plate, they also have weld on tabs to attach rear swaybar links to non swaybar shock mount plates, Iso-clamp eliminations kits too! I shot Dick, an e-mail the bushings go for $100.00 per kit, I'm assuming that's for front AND rear springs bushings?! Seems easier than trying to adapt non- FMJ springs to these cars 3 hours if your slow??
Does anyone know where I might find some or are there any out there from the aftermarket that will give a more responsive ride?
Thanks in advance.

Started to clean up and assess the GF for paint. So glad that it is complete, never wrecked, and is a good platform to work with. I did notice some weathering/cracks on the side glass weather stripping and was just wondering if anybody knows if it is still available via Mopar, re-popped, try to find in a 'yard, or "Make something as close as possible." May even try to put fresh weather striping on the doors, but I have to stick to one thing @ a time. Appreciate any help or advice
