Getting ready to build a 360 Mopar Magnum carbed engine for my 73 Challenger.
Not looking for a drag car...just a dependable cruiser with a bit of an attitude.
Would like somewhat of an old school “lopey idle if possible.
Will have PS/AC, pro built 904 trans with 2200 stall and 27 tires.
3.23 to 3.55 rear end gears posi. Mainly a weekender/car show ride.

Here's a rough idea of what I am considering> Need some input as I am as old as dirt and not very tech-savvy.
Looking for 375 to 400 HP...

Comp Cams XE262H or XE 268H

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Comp Cams XE262H or XE 268H
I am in the pocess of assembling my 340 for the 4-speed Challenger. I originally wanted the XE268 because I thought the rear was a 3.91 unit. I have discovered it is a 3.23, and I think the 268 may be a bit too much for the car. Will the XE262 with its shorter lift and duration be a better choice? Not going to be a hot rod, just a nice driver. Opinions appreciated. Thanks!

XE262 .462/.470 218/224
XE268 .470/.480 224/230

Intake gasket for a 1973 cuda 340

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Intake gasket for a 1973 cuda 340
So changing my intake and do not want the heat crossover that the edelbrock performer has. Heard that I should buy the felpro gasket 1213 without the crossover and block the crossover with thin sheet metal.

How is this done ?

Also anyone use Felpro 1213S3 laminated core with printoseal ?

Thanks for your help.

Mopar LA Trick Flow head bolt length

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Mopar LA Trick Flow head bolt length
Hi!

I have ordered a set of Trick Flow 190 heads for the small block. Trick Flow recommends their special head bolts or studs. However I already have a set of ARP bolts for w2 heads, which also fits most other aluminum heads like Edelbrock or MP.
From pictures the Trick Flow heads look similar, with two extra long bolts per head.
Does anyone here know if the ARP-bolts will fit or if the lengths are different so the special Trick-Flow fasteners are needed?

Since I live in Sweden, buying the...

Im thinking about doing my 340 intake manifold gasket. ( getting a leak in the back where it meets the head) Do i have to remove the distributor to change the gasket or can i leave it be ? Does the 340 have a valley pan gasket or is that just for big blocks? What gaskets do you recommend to use. Fel Pro ??

440 block dowel pins removal

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on 440 block dowel pins removal
So I'm getting this 440 block ready for the machine shop, and I was thinking about removing the dowel pins that locate the cylinder heads. I noticed the diameter is 1/4 but there appears to be a larger hole in the deck. So that would mean the pin is stepped? Is there a tricky way to remove these pins? I did a 350 GM build last year and prior to decking that block, the machine shop simply drove the pins into the water jackets were they remain to this day. Kinda wanna make sure that...
