The Negative Side of Using An 180 Degree Thermostat?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on The Negative Side of Using An 180 Degree Thermostat?
What harm would I be doing to my 440 SP if I used 180 degree thermostat over a 195? It doesn't overheat and stays right on 195, but starts to act "Funky" at operating temp. Meaning, like most 440 SP the crap they call premium gas goes to vapor. Can cooler be doable for these engines?

BTW - I run this ride in very thin air!

Fire Extinguishers

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Fire Extinguishers
A number of years ago, I owned a car that caught fire in the engine compartment. Fortunately, I was quick and calm about extinguishing the fire before it caused too much damage.

Since that time, I have made it a point to carry a fire extinguisher in the car. In the case of my Challenger, I have carried a loose extinguisher in the trunk. Not very convenient, I’ll admit, but it’s better than nothing and far better than losing the car.

Which brings me to my point, who here has permanently...

MSD Centrifugal Advance For Big Blocks

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on MSD Centrifugal Advance For Big Blocks
This is something I probably should had done BEFORE I tweeked my carburetors for this altitude (+7000 asl). Especially, knowing that everything under the hood of my 70 Challenger was either freshened up or new. Including the new MSD distributor and ignition controls.

So, I timed it yesterday, to determine total timing.
BTW - I know it needs to be set at 36 to 38 degrees total timing at and around 3000 rpms.
Needless to say, I believe it is setup as is from the factory (I'll be popping the...

Slow Boat To Your Doorstep!

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Slow Boat To Your Doorstep!
This new way of "Corona Life" has really placed a bind in deliveries to our doorstep.

Living in and around a small mountain town, in Colorado, really limits our ability to simply go to the store and buy just anything. This includes car parts!

Our only solution is to order on-line and wait. Which is "A"-typical for living in the country. It exemplifies the laid back lifestyle.

However, the last 4 months or so, my orders to delivery time has turned from 3 days to a week, a week to 2 weeks...

Car/Mopar Show Enthusiasts

Trippin' down “Memory Lane, this morning, thinking about all the past car shows I've been to and all the fun I had participating in them. Granted, I hope those days aren't over with yet, but with this Covid-19 floating around who really knows? What really bums me out, is the last two years, I've really made poor decisions getting my Challenger out to show. That was going to change this year, but it wasn't in the cards, now that I'm seeing more cancellations on-line for the shows I planned...

Now on to the crux of this thread - When will you know?

For the last six months I have been "Wrenching" and "Re-Wrenching" my carburetion and upper fuel line on my 440....

Powerblast – The Real Deal or Snake Oil? You Decide!

Thompson Performance, LLC

My thoughts lean towards the idea IF this is such a great idea, then why didn't all the carburetor manufacturers install this item in their products? Yet their testimonies and video would have you think this is the greatest thing since slice bread.

Really need to check out the testimonies and video.
