Fuel cap flip top question

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
I have a 70 challenger and I just bought a flip top fuel cap (I think it looks awesome with it.) It originally had just the twist on cap, which i still have by the way. What Goes under the flip top to seal the gas from getting out?
Right now I have a rag shoved in there temporarily. haha

Can someone post a picture? I've been looking all over for some sort of rubber seal but can't find one anywhere.

Thanks for the help!

How the heck so i get under the back seat?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
So I need to put my new lap belts in my 70 chally, but i cant lift the dang back seat. I know there are those two bars on either side that you need to lift up from underneath, but they won't seem to budge! It's very frustrating! How does this thing lift up?

Also I'm looking at fixing my broken door locks. I know if someone really wanted to get in they could, but a locked door keeps an honest man honest right? What's the best way to do this? I'd like to get an idea of what all is involved before I start tearing into things. I'm new to these cars, so I usually start by just unscrewing things and looking around haha

Hotckis sport suspension

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Hey just got in my Hotchkis sway bar set from Hotchkis.net for my 70 challenger.
Apparently this kit does a great job. Check out some of the videos online.
What do yall think about it?
The car is a 440 clone, originally had a slant 6, so Im not worried about changing it from stock. As a matter of fact, it originally didn't even have any sway bars so i'd say it's a big improvement as far as steering response and stability.
Has anyone tried this? I'll post pictures and tell yall about how i like the results soon
(I know its not a b-body, but I like to get multiple opinions) :)

Good front manual disc conversions to look for?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
I might have mentioned this in another thread somewhere... but wanted to start a new one to get more opinions...
Im looking for a good front disc brake conversion for my 70 chally that comes with EVERYTHING I would need (hoses, rotors, calipers, etc) ... I don't really need the benefit of going with power brakes, so I'm just sticking with the manual. But anywaysss... ya'll have any good kits you've used in the past?
Really, It would be bad ass to get them slotted and drilled so It will help me actually stop. ha (Im not as worried about having them plated or painted)
But as a ballpark range I'm looking at spending anywhere from 600-900 dollars as long as It's worth it in the long run.

Thanks Again Guys

How do these look?

8 3/4 rear end not strong enough?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Hey guys,
I have a question for all you who know your stuff with rear ends.
I just bought a 70 chally, and have only had a couple of weeks with it. So far everything looks pretty good with the car, the motor runs strong and everything is working alright... The engine is a 440 magnum with a 750 carb, and almost 7k worth of head work. It's a very powerful motor... whoever had it before me set it up like drag car. I have already replaced the carb with another 750 with larger primaries and a choke just so it would idle better and start no probelm. I have not really gotten to drive it on the road yet, but will soon.

When i first put it up on the lift I noticed something a bit discouraging... The rear end is a 8.75 but seems to be a "741" according to the casting. It also doesn't have a cover on the front side of the housing revealing the gears. I know that this rear is the weakest of the 8.75, which is the problem.
My question is, will this rear end hold up with such a powerful set up? I dont know exactly if the've tweaked it at all, but im pretty sure it doesn't have the sure grip, which is a no no in my book.
Any advice?
