My first post except for the presentation is a question regarding the carpet.

I am installing an ACC carpet in my -72 Challenger w. auto trans.
I have looked through a couple of useful guides but now I’m confused about one detail:

Where the shifter mechanism goes through the floor there is a rubber boot around it, attached to the floor with a sheet metal ring and three screws.
Is the carpet ment to be on top of the boot, or under it? It would make sense to hold both the carpet and…

I’m living in Sweden, imported a rusty Challenger -72 a few years ago. Almost finished with the restoration process now!

I have some previous experience from A-bodies and have done a lot of wrenching on the LA small blocks and 904/727 automatics.
