I'm getting ready to replace the trunk floor in my beater. At the top of the axle hump are these brackets:

I don't know what they are for.

I've never seen a lug wrench slipped through. They are thin so I can't see their value for stiffening the panel.
Who knows what these are for ? Are they there to support the spare ?

Suggestions for a great carpet cleaning solution ?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Suggestions for a great carpet cleaning solution ?
I have family coming over this weekend and I need to suck the rugs.
I have a vacuum/carpet cleaner combo that uses a cleaning solution and a water solution for rinsing. I've tried a few store brands of cleaning solution but nothing has really stood out and impressed me. I've used some bleach mixed in, once I tried some Purple Power, Some generic "heavy duty" stuff from Home Depot but nothing seems much better than the others.
I have some traffic areas, some dirt, grease, pet stains and such....

She ate the whole pizza !

This little bitch ate my dinner.

I set the pizza on the counter, set the oven to 400 and waited for it to get up to temp.
Back on FBBO to entertain myself for a few minutes and it seemed to take awhile for the oven to DING when it hit the number.
I went to the kitchen and SHE ran out. The floor had 3 slices of pepperoni on it, a few shreds of cheese and NO Pizza. She even ate the cardboard that the pizza was on.
The following is a recreation:...

With all the fanfare about quench, why then…..

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on With all the fanfare about quench, why then…..
Did Ma Mopar use the quench heads in 1967 440s then step away from them for 1968 and keep open chamber heads until the end?

I hear people tout the benefits of quench. I can see their point but the 1967 440 Magnum and the 1968 440 Magnum had the same HP and torque ratings.

I am looking at using 906/452/346 heads on my engine for the Jigsaw car.
Even at zero deck, there is no chance of quench. I've read that you have to mill these open chamber heads about .120 to get a closed chamber. No...

Understanding terms like Compression height, etc…

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Understanding terms like Compression height, etc…
I have a 383 that I just tore down and will be taking it in to the machine shop soon. I was hoping to just be able to hone it and reuse the original pistons but there was a ridge on every cylinder. I'm aware that I might have to bore it and use new pistons. I was impressed though that The rod and main bearings are all standard and dated 10-69, the block casting shows 8-27-69.

Ordinarily I'd just skip right past this and use a 440 but this is the original engine...

I have a nice pair of 1966 Dart doors from a hardtop GT model. The glass is still intact and included. Windows and latches work well.
$150 each. Local pickup preferred but shipping through Greyhound may be possible.
Doors are in Granite Bay CA, 95746.
