pitman arm

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
i have a 65 coronet. and i ordered pitman arm from mancini and it doesnt fit. my old pitman arm measures 10.125. the one they sent me is like 10.040. when i talked to Wes at mancini he told me that my power steering gear box shaft was a bastard size. and that they dont make a pitman arm with that 10.125 I.D. is that true?

torsion bars

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
i have a 65 coronet and i am installing all new steering components. upper and lower ball joints, tie rods , pitman arm idler arm and all new bushings. i have to remove torsion bars to do bushings in lower control arm so while they are out i am wondering if i should replace them. but i dont know how to tell if they need replacing. the torsion bars are origanal and my car used to have a small block in it. now has a big block so i was thinking i should upgrade to bigger t-bars. is there anything i can check to see if they need to be replaced. or should i just replace them because they are 45 years old. hate to have one break going 70 mph

oil pump on B.B.

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off
Has anyone ever had trouble with oil leaking on big block oil pump? the oil pump on my block has a small drip on the back of the oil pump where there is a 15/16 (hex head )bolt with a spring behind it. this is a melling high volume pump. there is a plastic washer around the head of bolt that looks in good condition. i have tried teflon tape on the threads and that didnt work. also i just tried ARP teflon paste and hoping that will work. it is not a bad leak but is still annoying. not sure if a new washer would fix problem. any suggestions?
