1970 Barracuda convertible header top removal

I have heard a couple things about removing the 4-5″ wide stainless header panels across the top of the windshield for a convertible. I would like to remove the header panels and take some dents out. But, 1. I’ve heard there is a ton of sticky tar/silicone that will make it difficult to just simply remove. 2. I was told there are some tiny screws underneath that retain the header panels and I would have to remove the windshield before I can take the header panels off.

To zip or not to zip – glass on convertibles

I recently heard you are supposed to unzip the back window glass on a convertible before putting the top down. I hadn’t heard that before (except on Mustangs), and the former owner of my car didn’t unzip his glass when he put his top down and he had it for 24 years. He didn’t have any issues and I haven’t had any either. Anyone have any guidelines for unzipping or leaving alone? Note, the CAUTION tag on the top does not refer to unzip or leave zipped.

426 dual 600 cfm – no power suddenly

I have a 426 Hemi with dual 600 Edelbrock carbs that are synchronized (I hope that’s the right term) and has a MSD electronic ignition with a MSD Blaster for a coil. I went to a car show on the 4th – all went fine going there. On the way back home, I went about 2 blocks and suddenly I had very little power. I thought maybe I had popped out of gear, nope. I went another 2 blocks and made it to my country road home. I started playing with gears and gas then while driving. The car was…

LOC-TITE = PAINT STRIPPER WARNING

If you didn’t know it, LOC-TITE is a paint stripper! I just spent all weekend sandblasting my front license plate brkt. and road lamp brackets, then primering them, and finally a nice paint job. I let them dry for 2 days and even baked them in the sun a while. I bought all new license plate hardware, bumpers, plate screw mounts, and even the P-nut metal mounting tab nuts. I have an elastomeric bumper in front so I didn’t want to tighten the bracket screws through the bumper too much so I…

NEW Website for my ’70 ‘cuda convertible

For those interested, I just did finish making a new web site for my 1970 ‘cuda convertible. There are lots of pictures and I hope you enjoy it. It is my first loading of it, so I hope it all works properly.
Also, at this time, my fog lights are not on my car. I have the lights and brackets being sand blasted just this week in prep for returning them onto the front of my car.
Have fun! Phil

The link to my site is in my signature… That will tell me if that works too!

’70 Cuda Convertible down at the marina

I had a beautiful morning with clear skies so I took my convertible to the marina for a quick photo shot. I’m working on a web page for my car and collecting some good shots for it. I hope to have it done soon. Enjoy!
