The “I’m so old thread……”

I'm so old that I now use a rake to pull tools etc out from under the car once I'm done fixing it and use a hoe for the stuff the rake leaves behind!

Fuel tank sendor unit gasket question….anyone use a sealant on it?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Fuel tank sendor unit gasket question….anyone use a sealant on it?
Somehow the top of the gasket surface got pushed in a bit on this 'new' tank and was installed in the car like that and the guy has been dealing with it leaking at the top of the gasket. I was able to use a pair of channel locks to bring it back out and it looks and feels pretty good but I don't trust it and thought about using some sealer on the new gasket. If that's ok, what would be good?

Think I found a nice one and it looks like it's pretty close looking to the 69. Heck, the one on my 66 looks similar except it's for a /6....

‘H’ series big block head bolts with rear seal adaptor and bolts

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on ‘H’ series big block head bolts with rear seal adaptor and bolts
IIRC, Bouchillon Performance had a page identifying the correct years these were for but can't find it now but seems they ran from the late 60's into 1970. Used to part cars in the mid 70's and the majority of them were late 60's with several 1970 cars with one or two 71's. These came off of an original big block and was saving these for myself. And I have more of the same if anyone is interested.....30 shipped per set to all 50 states.

Marine/Deep Cycle batteries in diesel pickup?

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Marine/Deep Cycle batteries in diesel pickup?
I've used deep cycle batteries in gas pickups before with good results but it's been years. I might drive my 97 Dodge diesel once a week but there's been times it has sat for 2+ weeks and am wondering if a deep cycle battery would be better to use. The ones in the truck now are 10 and 7 years old (don't ask how that happened) and have been on the weak side for over a year now. The are group 27 with 750 CCA and the same size deep cycle is 675 CCA. The 750's spin the starter pretty fast and...

Do you like Caddys?

I was pretty young the first time I was introduced to a Cattle-rag and from what I remember, it was a 49 that my uncle had. Thinking my age was about 6 or 7 and remember that there was a LOT of space in the back and there was plenty of room on the back floor board to play with little cars lol. Just sitting on the edge of the seat and falling back, my head wouldn't even hit the seat back. Anyways, been looking at some from that era and came across a 56 De Ville and man, much nicer Cad! Yeah,...

Starrett Master Precision Level No. 199

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Starrett Master Precision Level No. 199
This level is in great condition with a flat base. In fact, if I spray some WD40 on my milling machine table and lay the level on it and let it settle for a few seconds, it actually sticks to the table when I try to pick it up. I got this level in the mid 90's just to level my machines and haven't used it since then. The base is 15" long and each division=.0005" per foot.

The first 6 pics are of the base from the front and then the back left to right. It does have a company name on it if...
