I'm trying to figure out my ignition. The ignition turned over but there was no spark so I looked for loose wire. I connected these two random wires that look that they might go together and tried turning over and it didn't work. This time it didn't even turn over or click or anything. I got a new ignition and so I just thought oh when I put this in it will be fine. I put the new ignition in and it still doesn't do anything. I check the fuses under the dash and...

Oil sending unit reading

I've tried to figure this out before, but I got stuck. I have a 74 road runner with a 318 in it and I can't seem to get my oil gauge working. I want to start with the sending unit and make sure it works. I measured the resistance across it with pressure and got an open circuit. I tried 2 more sending units at napa and got the same result. Then i went back home and screwed the sending unit into the block and put the positive lead on the top of the sender and the negative on the battery ground and again it read 1 .0 which is open circuit. So then I was thinking it's an engine ground issue, so I measured from the sender to the ground stud on the engine block and had the same result.

Am I testing this wrong, or what's the deal?

I went to napa and confirmed that the sending unit is the gauge type, not the switch.

I've got a 74 road runner with a 318 in it and I can't get my temp and oil gauges to work. I sent my rallye gauge cluster to Bob's speedometer to get them redone and then installed it and my gas gauge works now but my oil, temp, and batt don't. I installed new oil and temp sending units and made sure that they are the sending units, not the switches. These sending units are the resistance kind, right? So I should be able to measure the resistance across the the unit and watch it vary as...

Sure grip rear end questions

I've got a 74 road runner with a 318 and a 3.23 open diff rear end. I'm eventually gonna swap in a 408 stroker but I want to upgrade the suspension and rear first. I've been looking all over but can't find the answer to my basic question:

If I buy a 8 3/4 open diff rear end, say with 3.55 gears, can I install some sort of limited slip (auburn or eaton) to it and convert it to a "sure grip"? Or do I have to have a third member that had factory sure grip?

Best Fuel Line Hose

I've had to replace my rubber fuel line hose twice in the last 3 years. I've just been getting the regular NAPA fuel hose but it keeps cracking and I don't want to play this game anymore. Other than going to hard lines, what are some fuel hoses that will last longer yet still look somewhat stock? I don't like the look of the silver braided stainless steel lines. Any recommendations?

I have a 74 Road Runner with a 318 and an auto in it. The previous owner put an Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm 4 bbl carb in it with a performer intake and I've been told that It doesn't have the correct linkage or bracket. They say I still have the 2 bbl hardware on it. Can anyone tell me what hardware I need and where I can get it? I'm not exactly sure which is the 2 bbl hardware that I need to update.

Bad noises after replacing valve cover gasket

My 318 was leaking a little from the valve cover so I decided to change it. I swapped it in and then started it up and it ran fine but starting spitting up even more oil than before. I'm sure the gasket wasn't on right so I took it off and then straightened it out. This time I bumped one of the pushrods and then it came loose so I took the rocker arm shaft off and put it back. Bolted over thing up and now when I start it it makes this awesome crack/ping noise and it barely runs. It sounds like the engine is destroying itself so I quickly shut it off. I took off the valve cover again and adjusted the rocker arm and push rods and tried it again and the same awful noise came back. Any idea why this could be? I didn't take any of the spark plug wires off so they are still in the correct order. Didn't touch the timing or anything. Could it be that the pushrods aren't on right?
