Any good Scotch drinkers online tonight? I just tapped into a bottle of Johnny Walker Black and am pretty impressed. I have to say i dont think its as good as a Glenlivet 12 year but pretty damn close.

Home Made Heat Shields

Man I love old license plates. It turns out they make great heat shields. I made these two over the last couple weeks just for the hell of it. Ours in South Carolina aren’t stamped so they’re nice and flat and easy to work with. I’ve got about an hour in making both of them. I cut them out to shape with some tin snips, sanded down the edges, then sanded the big flat surfaces up to a 1500 grit. Shifting at 4600 rpm?

Trying to get all the kinks worked out since dropping in the 383. Kickdown is adjusted and working great and I’m getting full throttle with the pedal but when i take off keeping the pedal on the floor the car will shift around 4600. It seems awful lo…

Oil Pressure OK?

The 383 is running great- I think I’ve finally got most of the bugs worked out. It was about 85 degrees here today and it stayed right at 190 degrees running around with my dad this morning. After the engine is hot the idle oil pressure is about 25 to 30 pounds and driving around at about 2000 rpm its around 45. Does that sound like enough? I’m running rotella 15-40 with a bottle of Lucas break in additive til I get a few miles in then I’ll probably go with Royal Purple.

BB Swap and column shift linkage

All right guys I need a few ideas. I swapped a 383 in place of the old slant and kept the column shift. I used trans dapts conversion mounts and Schumcher headers. I have a slight clearance issue with the shift linkage hitting the header when trying to shift into anything lower than drive. I drilled a new hole in the bar that points straight to the ground to gain a little clearance but still cant shift any lower than 2nd gear and now my pointer doesnt line up with the pattern on the column…

Missing at 2200 rpm???

Well I got the exhaust on today and wanted to take it for a spin and noticed before I got it in gear that it seems to have a miss that doesnt start until a little over 2000 rpm. Idles smooth and comes off idle well but seems to feel like a rev limiter is kicking in. I dont remember doing it last weekend but it sure did today. Any ideas?

Fuel Tank Vent

Well, the 383 is in and running but I’ve got what I think is a vent line from the fuel tank and dont know what to do with it. Its kind of bothering me just sticking up in the air looking at me. Does anyone know what I should do with it or at least where I should connect it?
